Dickinson County Community Theatre and One Community Through The Arts announced today its forthcoming musical production OLIVER, written and scored by Lionel Bart. This remarkable musical is based on the novel OLIVER TWIST by Charles Dickinson.

This is an ambitious undertaking by both groups said Project Director Duane Peck of OCTTA. Financing and mounting musicals have serious concerns. By partnering we feel we can overcome the obstacles..not without hard work and dedication; but with community support we can offer an outstanding theater venue. The production is being handled by Jinx Brew Producer; John Henly Musical Director, Linda VanKirk, Assistant Director/Stage Manager and myself as Artistic Director. As individuals we are bringing to the table a wealth of dedication and experience.

The objective is to entertain and educate. Young people will be given an opportunity to work with adult mentors in the arts and see their art in action. Not only cast members, but musicians and technicians will be encouraged to participate. From an adult standpoint it is the training of these young talents to secure the continued growth of our community theater. "Most important to the project is fun and fellowship. That wonderful bond that says a job well done knowing you and your fellow company extended their very best", concluded Peck.

Presently the group is looking for a Technical Director. The person needs to have good organizational skills and ability to work with people. A knowledge in theater production is helpful, but for the right person they are willing to train.

John Henly is busy putting together the orchestra. It will be composed of both adults and young people. "We are looking for strings, brass, percussion, and rehearsal piano.", said Mr. Henley.

When asked about auditions Mr. Peck said, "Major leads will be auditioned in Mid November, yes I know its deer season, but that is when we have to start." Persons wishing to audition need not have acting experience nor belong to either group and there will be announcements as to times and place.

Audition Date November 9,10,11, and 12th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the old Goodwill Space in the Midtown Mall Iron Mountain.
